Now reproduced by Ripmax Ltd based in Enfield, the new range of Keil Kraft kits have been updated with laser cut parts but still maintain their classic looks and performance.

Construction of the model from this kit uses the traditional method of “stick and tissue”, that consists of a built up balsa wood skeleton (framework), covered with a tissue skin. The balsa frameworks are pinned and built over a plan on a flat board. Power is provided by rubber strip motor that is wound up before flight.

Designed by Albert Hatfull, the Keil Kraft Senator is a contest style duration model with a distinctive single wheel helping to keep the weight down to a minimum.

 The Senator is one of the best performing cabin models in the Keil Kraft range thanks to a simple yet efficient design. The construction is straightforward with a box style fuselage, undercambered polyhedral wing and underslung tailplane held together with rubber bands to avoid damage should landings be less than perfect.

Requires:

Keil Kraft models are traditional hobby products and are supplied in kit format. To complete the model as shown on the box you may need to purchase further items such as tools and finishing materials.

– Building Board. Flat piece of wood, cork (Notice board) Hard foam sheet. Pins are then used to hold parts in position
– A sharp craft knife and various hand tools
– Various grades of sand paper
– Clear film (or baking paper) to protect the plan
– Pack of modelling pins (Large headed pins)
– Balsa cement, white glue or cyano ‘super glue’

– Tissue Paste: Deluxe Materials or thin PVA / Paper paste.
– Tissue Sealant: Traditional Shrinking Dope and Cellulose Thinners (Bit difficult to get and smelly) DIY Spay Clear Lacquer use a single light coat. Deluxe Materials EZE Dope. Water based, use well thinned and can be obtained by mail order
– Optional decoration (paint or coloured tissue) Paint: Optional. If you want to fly the model, keep it as light as possible (Unpainted) If you want to paint it use model type (Humbrol or others) Enamel or Acrylic paint well thinned)
